Leadership happens at all levels in the organisation and beyond it; in partnerships, in social structures and networks, in family circles and friendship groups. It concerns executive roles, titles, formal political and organisational positions. And it’s far more besides. Leadership is called for in all walks of life and layers of society, within and beyond formal power structures. And given the complex global, local, economic, environmental and social challenges we face, I know for sure it needs to be.

Leadership in today’s complex world means finding inner resources amidst multiple demands.   My clients include very successful senior Executives and influencers without formal titles. They are busy doing what’s needed while striving to stay alert, to acknowledge risk yet stay positive, to manage multiple and conflicting demands and sometimes simply to stay afloat while drowning in multi-channel communications overload. On top of all that, needing to sustain, maintain and build relationships with people seen only as a postage stamp faces on a screen. Or in a hybrid working environment where team members pass by occasionally, in the transit camp that’s a hot desk office.  It can seem a thankless task. Yet it’s vital if people are to feel alignment, cohesion, commitment and have any sense of shared values, let alone belonging.
